Grade 5 - Unit Culmination: Sharing the Planet. The summative assessment for the Sharing the Planet unit successfully drove PYP Action focused on environmental responsibility. ● Student Action: Students collaboratively researched and constructed detailed 3D biome models (Forests, Grasslands, etc.), demonstrating a deep conceptual understanding of interdependence and ecosystem balance. ● Reflection & Engagement: The event fostered meaningful engagement with parents, who posed insightful questions and reflected on potential action points related to the improvement of people, living things, and the environment. ● Outcome: A powerful celebration of learning, highlighting students' growing awareness of environmental sustainability and global responsibility through creative inquiry and teamwork.

Grade 3 - Taking Action: Caring for Our Community's Strays. Following their unit on 'Role Models,' students demonstrated caring and responsible action during their visit to the Welfare of Stray Dogs (WSD). Inspired by the commitment of the volunteers, the learners shifted from observation to action-oriented reflection. They recognized that simple, thoughtful acts—such as donating newspapers or raising awareness—are powerful ways to create a positive impact. This experience empowered them to embrace their role as responsible global citizens who actively contribute to a kinder community through compassion and service.

Grade 4 - From Inquiry to Action - The Healthy Living Festival. Following their "Who We Are" Unit of Inquiry, Grade 4 learners took meaningful action by designing and executing a student-led Nutritious Food Festival. Showcasing their understanding of body systems and healthy choices, they prepared and served dishes while confidently explaining the nutritional benefits to guests. This event successfully transferred theoretical knowledge into a practical, real-world application, demonstrating their growth as Inquirers, Communicators, and Balanced learners dedicated to promoting well-being.

Grade 1 - Student Action: Bridging Home and Inquiry. When students purposefully bring unit-related items for Show and Tell, they are taking meaningful action by demonstrating ownership of their learning. This choice represents a personal connection that extends the Unit of Inquiry beyond the classroom. By explaining the significance of their object, students act as confident communicators who deepen their understanding and share their learning with peers, actively reinforcing real-life connections.

Grade 2 - Beach clean up - Chowpatty. Driven by their learning in the 'Sharing Our Planet' unit, Grade 2 students did a Beach Clean-up at Chowpatty. By observing the detrimental effects of waste first-hand, the students took responsible action to protect the environment. This experience served as a powerful opportunity for them to develop as caring and reflective learners dedicated to promoting sustainability in their community.

FUEL A DREAM

Fuel a dream is one of the best crowdfunding platforms in India. It is associated with many schools and organizations across India. Podar – ORT is proudly associated with Fuel a dream since last two years. PORTIS organized a crowdfunding campaign to support woman in rural areas with water wheels. We raised the funds to sponsor more than 500 water wheels.


KALA GHODA ART FESTIVAL

PODAR – ORT is a proud participant of KALA GHODA ART FESTIVAL since many years. The students work collaboratively on the theme given to them and create a master-piece by applying their creative thinking skills.


PEHLAY AKSHAR FOUNDATION

PODAR – ORT is associated with Pehlay Akshar Foundation through the campaign A story a day.
Pehlay Akshar Foundation is a non-profit focused on improving student’s learning outcomes by creating safe learning spaces for children and peer networks for teachers across government schools. The students of PODAR-ORT from grade 5 to IBDP Year – I, narrated the stories through video recording and the video of these stories were shared with many government schools on various digital platform. The teachers then share these videos with the students.


CALLIDO - VIRTUAL SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP BOOTCAMP for CAS & IAYP

The students participated in Virtual Social Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for CAS & IAYP which was organised by Callido. A 10-hour live-facilitated interactive program that contributed to students’ CAS Experiences which directly providing opportunities to develop the attributes of the IB learner profile through social entrepreneurship. The students got Ivy League Faculty Certificate and a real-world business idea to work on!


WORLD WILDLIFE FUND

The World Wide Fund for Nature is an international non-governmental organization founded in 1961 that works in the field of wilderness preservation and the reduction of human impact on the environment The WWF collaborated with PORTIS and organised a webinar on dragonflies and damselflies and their yoke in the ecosystem. The students of Middle school and IBDP took part in the webinar which gave an insight to the students about these insects.


TERRY FOX RUN FOR A CAUSE

Fox India has raised crores in support of the Tata Memorial Hospital. Together they have developed research that has impacted the lives and futures of several children suffering from cancer. The students of PODAR – ORT participated in this marathon run to support the cause.


CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION WITH OPERATIONAL STAFF

The school follows this tradition of appreciating the ground level staff that includes House-keeping, Security and Transport staff by celebrating Christmas festival with them. This year, the students took an initiative of distributing a hamper of daily-essentials to these super-heroes. Every year the students come up with different plans to acknowledge the hard-work these members and they call it as JOY OF GIVING..


MUN

The students participated in Model United Nations 2020 – organized by G D Goenka World School, Delhi.

It was a two days’ event on 26th and 27th December 2020. The DP students performed excellently even though so many other commitments like End of Semester examination were lined up at that time. Mast. Taher Motiwala got a special mention for his contribution. Ms. Tripura Chamy was the Head Delegate from PORTIS. Mast. Tejas Chakraborti got a special mention for the Barcelona delegate. The PORTIS delegation was led by Ms. Pallavi Mogre.
