PORTIS High School Diploma (Grade 9 – 12)
Minimum Credit Requirements*
PORTIS Diploma credits are accumulated over (Grades 9 – 12) i.e. from Secondary School (9 – 10) to Higher Secondary School (11 & 12) covering the journey from Cambridge IGCSE to IBDP.
The minimum total credits required to receive the PORTIS Diploma is 250 with a minimum of 60 credits required per year. Credits are given for passing courses and students.
Each course is assigned either 5 or 2.5 credits per semester depending upon how many hours the class meets per cycle. Students are awarded these credits upon successfully passing the course work required. For example, 40 credits required in English means students must take 8 semesters of this course over a 4 year period (earning 5 credits per semester or 10 credits per year). 10 credits = 1 Carnegie unit
Students joining PORTIS in grade 10, 11 & 12 will be given Transfer Credits as per the School Policy.
